Lukomir
The last Bosnian village is hidden high up in the mountains on the southern ridge of Bjelašnica. A unique untouched part of Bosnia & Herzegovina where the customs of nomadic tribes and Dinaric highlanders are still practiced. The village is inhabited by 20 people and is reached via two mountain windy gravel paths. The original stone houses covered in oak, fir, and beech shingles made to withstand the inhospitable weather have been standing for centuries. During the civil war, the village wasn't discovered by the Serbians and was destroyed hence why it is still found in its original shape.
Abandoned architecture
Scattered all around the country hotels were built for the Winter Olympics in 1984. As of today, they all stand empty in all of their glory crumbling to pieces. Most of them are left to be forgotten while others are slowly torn down.
Symbols of war
In the city of Mostar, the famous sniper tower stands tall and reminds the passerby of the civil war's terrors. Placed strategically in a roundabout with boulevards stretching in all directions, the tower had significant power to those in its possession.
In the shades lies a once prominent observatory belonging to the university of Sarajevo. Though, during the civil war, it was considered very valuable with its location on a mountain top and was eventually blown up.
